Angelina Jolie’s Parenting Praised After Zahara’s Comments
For the most part, the six children of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie—Maddox, 24; Pax, 22; Zahara, 21; Shiloh, 19; and 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne—lead remarkably private lives. However, one of the Jolie-Pitt children just offered a rare, heartfelt glimpse into what it is truly like being raised by the Oscar-winning actress.

For context, Zahara is the eldest daughter in the household. Angelina Jolie adopted her from Ethiopia as a 6-month-old infant back in July 2005.

Brad Pitt and Angelina were a new couple at the time. Less than a year after Zahara joined the family, the Fight Club actor began the legal process of formally adopting both her and her older brother, Maddox.

Angelina originally adopted Maddox as a single parent in 2002.
It is significant to note that very little is known regarding Zahara’s current relationship with her father. Since the high-profile separation of Brad and Angelina in 2016, reports have surfaced suggesting the children are estranged from him. Notably, several of the siblings, including Zahara, have chosen to drop “Pitt” from their professional and personal surnames.

Brad has not been photographed with his children in years, nor has he addressed their relationship publicly. So far, Shiloh remains the only sibling to have legally filed to change her name from “Jolie-Pitt” to “Jolie.”
Currently, 21-year-old Zahara is flourishing as a graduating senior at Spelman College in Atlanta. This past weekend, Angelina joined her daughter for a special mother-daughter brunch hosted by the Pearls of Purpose Foundation.

Both Angelina and Zahara delivered moving speeches at the charity event. Given Zahara’s private nature, her public comments quickly went viral. Reflecting on the “value of mother-daughter relationships,” she admitted it was difficult to find the perfect words to describe her connection with Angelina, noting they share a “unique, almost kindred relationship” that transcends explanation.

“Our love for each other is a found one. I was adopted at 6 months old and given some of the most special and loving people as my siblings, with a mom who raised us on the value of helping others, being kind, and always striving for growth as people,” she shared. “These values may sound simple, but in a world where kindness is overlooked, I am grateful to have a role model who shows me what it means to be a decent human being.”

Calling her mother a “superhero,” Zahara expressed her constant admiration for how Angelina balances her life. “She’s the most selfless, loving, and understanding woman I get to call my mom,” she said, before touching upon the transition of moving away from home for her college education.

“I realized it would be challenging to include my mom and family in these worlds without being able to directly share the effects. With the public life we live, it can be hard to find those intimate moments without being overwhelmed by the many eyes on us,” she explained.

Zahara continued by highlighting her mother’s genuine interest in her education: “This has never stopped my mom from being curious about everything I’m learning at Spelman, asking questions about sorority life and my experiences. My family embraces the newness and strives to understand these organizations as I share my journey.”

In a sweet moment, she mentioned how being the oldest daughter led her to embrace a “second mother role,” stating, “I loved caring for my younger siblings and mirroring the compassion my mom showed us.”

She finished her speech by looking directly at Angelina and saying, “I think back to a quote that said, ‘I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me.’ Thank you, Mom.”
Because the public rarely hears from the Jolie children, fans were deeply moved by Zahara’s testimony. “Zahara is stunning, and it’s so heartwarming to hear about the bond Angelina has with her kids,” one social media user noted. “She is raising truly compassionate individuals!”

Other fans were quick to praise Angelina’s dedication to her family. “There are many ethical conversations regarding international adoption, but Angelina seems to have handled it with such sensitivity,” one commenter wrote. “I love how she has kept them connected to their birth cultures.”

“I’m getting emotional. I remember the photos when she first adopted Zahara,” another fan added. “Seeing her grow into this confident, kind young woman is beautiful. Angelina has done an incredible job raising her children, and you can see how much they revere her.”
While some pointed out that Zahara noticeably excluded Brad from her speech, many focused on the striking physical resemblance Zahara shares with her mother, despite not being biologically related.

“It’s amazing how much familial resemblance I see in her children,” one observer wrote. “It feels like they love and emulate her so much that they have naturally adopted her mannerisms and traits.”

Others attributed this phenomenon to “attunement,” where children subconsciously mirror the facial expressions and postures of their primary caregivers. It’s clear that the connection between this mother and daughter is truly special!

Looking at one side of the coin, Beyoncé actually served as a co-chair for the Met Gala this year. Because of that, several attendees were quizzed on their favorite Bey hits, including Colman Domingo, Angela Bassett, Nicole Kidman, and Chase Infiniti. In context, the question was totally relevant, and Paul’s body language could be seen as brushing off her artistic impact.
