24 Famous Actors Replaced During Filming: Fired, Quit, or Died
1. For the opening two seasons of Bridgerton, Ruby Stokes portrayed Francesca. Just as Season 2 launched, Ruby revealed she was leaving the series to take on a lead role in Lockwood & Co. Hannah Dodd stepped into Francesca’s shoes and continues to play the character today.

Netflix
2. Henry Cavill led the Netflix hit The Witcher for three successful seasons. However, he eventually announced his departure, with Liam Hemsworth set to take over the mantle. Reports suggest Henry’s exit was due to “creative differences” with the showrunners; Henry pushed for a more book-accurate adaptation, while the writers preferred their own narrative changes.

Netflix
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures,” Henry shared. “In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”

Netflix
Subsequently, Liam issued his own statement saying, “Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure…. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into the Witcher world.”
3. Richard Harris originally brought Albus Dumbledore to life in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, but he tragically passed away before filming began on the third installment.

Kristen Stewart later chatted with Nicole about their short-lived time on set: “We spent a couple of weeks rehearsing and like — I know you. I was a little guy but — it’s an interesting time to meet somebody and have a vivid memory of it because the way that you treat kids, is so telling of you — of anyone. I just felt like I was buds with you and that says so much. You were so nice to me and I had the best time. It was a short period of time but I was always like, oh yeah, she’s one of my friends.”
7. Ross Butler portrayed Reggie Mantle during the debut season of Riverdale but exited the show to dedicate his time to his other series, 13 Reasons Why.

The CW

The visual effects team also blended archival recordings of Paul’s voice with his brothers’ voices to complete the character’s dialogue.

Universal
A source informed TMZ, “It will take both brothers, Caleb and Cody, to get everything to match up. Our sources say the production team tested the voice of each brother and learned that certain words sound better coming from one brother, and different ones from the other … so they will combine them to help make the dialogue work.”
9. Janet Hubert—the original Aunt Viv on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air—left the sitcom after being offered what she described as a “bad deal” during Season 3. The role was famously taken over by Daphne Maxwell Reid for the remainder of the series.

NBC

HBO Max

11. Jake T. Austin played Jesus Adams Foster for two seasons of The Fosters but departed after discovering his character’s screen time would be significantly cut in the third season.

The CW
13. Lisa Robin Kelly was the original Laurie on That ’70s Show for several seasons, but the role was eventually handed to Christina Moore for the sixth season.

ABC
In an ABC News interview, Lisa admitted that personal tragedies and a struggle with alcohol led to her stepping away from the spotlight.

In 2013, Lisa passed away from multiple drug intoxication shortly after entering a rehab facility to seek treatment.
14. Rachelle Lefevre played the villainous Victoria in Twilight and New Moon, but she was fired because of a 10-day filming overlap with the Dustin Hoffman film, Barney’s Version.

Summit
Rachelle claimed she was “fully committed” to the saga and was shocked when the studio replaced her with Bryce Dallas Howard for the third film, Eclipse.

Summit
Rachelle stated, “I was stunned by Summit’s decision to recast the role of Victoria for Eclipse. I was fully committed to the Twilight saga, and to the portrayal of Victoria. I turned down several other film opportunities and, in accordance with my contractual rights, accepted only roles that would involve very short shooting schedules. My commitment to Barney’s Version is only ten days. Summit picked up my option for Eclipse. Although the production schedule for Eclipse is over three months long, Summit said they had a conflict during those ten days and would not accommodate me. Given the length of filming for Eclipse, never did I fathom I would lose the role over a 10-day overlap. I was happy with my contract with Summit and was fully prepared to continue to honor it. Summit chose simply to recast the part.”

Director Ridley Scott recalled, “One Sunday morning, he dropped down dead on the floor of a pub. He probably had a couple of pints and said, ‘I don’t feel good,’ laid on the carpet and died.
17. After completing the entire shoot, Chris D’Elia was removed from Army of the Dead following serious sexual assault allegations. He was replaced by Tig Notaro.

Netflix
18. Lisa Kudrow was the first choice for Roz in Frasier and worked on the pilot for three days before being let go and replaced by Peri Gilpin.

She later told Howard Stern, “I wasn’t right for the part [or] for the chemistry of the group. So that wasn’t working but I did think, ‘Oh, I am not [director James Burrows’] cup of tea.”

NBC
When she eventually auditioned for Friends, she noted, “I had one extra audition just for James Burrows. I did it and he went, ‘No notes.’ I left going, ‘That either means she’s beyond help and helpless, just like I always knew,’ or ‘Yeah, it’s perfect. I have no notes.'”
19. Jenna Fischer was originally cast to star with Matt LeBlanc in the sitcom Man With a Plan. She filmed the pilot before being fired and replaced by Liza Snyder.

NBC

Barry Keoghan Denies Sabrina Carpenter Cheating Allegations
Barry Keoghan is finally opening up about the viral cheating allegations involving Sabrina Carpenter following their high-profile breakup.

To get you up to speed: After news broke that Barry and Sabrina reportedly split in late 2024 after a year of dating, the internet was flooded with rumors that he had been unfaithful to the “Espresso” singer with influencer Breckie Hill. For her part, Breckie quickly shut down the cheating speculation on her own platforms.

Despite the denial, the wave of online negativity aimed at the Saltburn star was so intense that he eventually felt forced to delete his Instagram account and release a statement regarding the “hate” he was enduring during that period.

While appearing on a recent episode of the Friends Keep Secrets podcast, Barry addressed those persistent cheating rumors directly. He shared a candid look at how the public narrative has fundamentally altered his life—and his perspective was truly heartbreaking.

Steve Granitz / FilmMagic
“I came off Instagram and social profiles,” he confessed during the interview. “I’ve stopped going to events. I’ve stopped, you know, just, socializing. It’s because, you know, there was a narrative out there that was never really sort of even spoken on, a narrative that’s not true, and I never confirmed or said anything about it. And, you know, I just disappeared.”

Reflecting on the unique struggles of “having a relationship in the public eye,” Barry pointed toward the video where Breckie denied the rumors. “No one seemed to latch on to that video,” he noted, expressing frustration over how the public perception has shifted since the breakup.

“I’m not asking for people to become my fan and like me because that’s not normal either,” he continued. “But I’m asking for people to stop assuming and also stop jumping on this narrative and attacking me and dragging me down in any way you can, involving my parents who are no longer with me… just absolutely disgusting and vile. There’s videos on TikTok literally going, ‘I hate him.'”

Shannon Elizabeth OnlyFans Earnings: American Pie Star Wealth
If you’re a millennial of a certain age, you know Shannon Elizabeth from a few things. Between the American Pie franchise, Tomcats, Scary Movie, and even a Jay and Silent Bob movie or two, she was arguably one of the queens of the “movies you watched at a sleepover party” subcategory.

©Universal/Courtesy Everett Collection
Shannon’s acting career has remained fairly steady since then, but she recently took on a new role entirely: OnlyFans creator. She joined the service just a few weeks ago, telling People at the time that starting her own OnlyFans was because “I’ve spent my entire career working in Hollywood, where other people controlled the narrative and the outcome of my career. This new chapter is about changing that, showing off a more sexy side no one has seen, and being closer to my fans.”

Kayla Oaddams / Getty Images
Well, just a few weeks later, People has a new report on how the OnlyFans foray is going for Shannon — and as it turns out, she’s seemingly struck content-creator gold in the process.

©Columbia Pictures/Courtesy Everett Collection
A source tells the publication that Shannon brought in “more than seven figures” on the first week she joined OnlyFans. Seven figures! Let that sink in.

Tiffany Rose / Getty Images for GBK Brand Bar
The source adds that Shannon “is really making a name for herself” on her page, and they also note that there is no full nudity featured on it. “She is super happy she now gets to take control and be engaged with her fans,” the source adds.

See, this is what Margo was thinking when she said she had money troubles…we’ve reached out to Shannon’s reps for further comment and will let you know if we hear anything back.
