She wasn’t lying, actually. She’s talked about Kurt Cobain and modern technology in prior interviews. As Variety notes, she said in 2014, “Look at Kurt Cobain — he hardly even saw a computer! The digital stuff that’s going on is so exciting.” In 2015, she said, “I was thinking about Kurt Cobain the other day and he died without knowing the internet, and I’m totally blown away by that.” Finally, in 2016, she said, “If I’d died at 27, the age that Kurt Cobain died in 1994, I’d never have even known there was an internet!”

2. Nicki Minaj once claimed that she was friends with Princess Di. After a fan at a concert said she was from Wales, Minaj replied, “Wales…It reminds me of a dear friend of mine. Well, she’s not here anymore, the Princess of Wales.” She then led a moment of silence for Diana. Minaj was 14 when Diana died, and I highly doubt the two were “dear friends.”

Probably one of the most bizarre things a celeb has ever claimed also involves Minaj…yep, I’m talking about when she tweeted that her cousin had a friend who got giant testicles from the COVID vaccine. “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied,” she wrote. She later recommended getting vaccinated and mask-wearing, but was still slammed for her wild claim.

4. I’m on the same page as Viggo Mortensen in his reported rant about McDonald’s French fries…but I can’t believe it’s coming from Mortensen. Apparently, in a 2015 interview with Esquire, he said, “The McDonald’s French fry is unbelievable. When you bite into it, you think: It’s so tasty, it can’t be real. As soon as it gets cold, it turns to lard and flubble. I mean, have you ever tried to eat a McDonald’s French fry that’s gone cold? That’s one of the circles of hell. The gulf between the warm, fresh, lightly salted McDonald’s French fry and the cold McDonald’s French fry is as great a gulf as any I know.”

5. I’m kind of obsessed with the time Liam Neeson claimed that a horse “remembered him” from a prior film they’d worked on. “I’m saying this horse knew me. He actually remembered me from another western we made a while back … He whinnied when he saw me. And pawed the ground.” Neeson said the horse remembered him because he’d taken “special care of him” on set.

6. Russel Crowe nodded along to Neeson’s tweet, writing on X (then Twitter), “This is absolutely true. There’s a horse, George, who I gave the speech in the forest in Gladiator on. Years later he was on the set of Robin Hood and we would have a chat every day. Same with the white horse, Rusty, in Robin Hood. We chatted again on Les Mis. Lifelong friends.” Uh…what does that “chat” entail, exactly?

7. Woody Harrelson was obviously joking, but I still find this quote bizarre, especially given the context. After Woody Harrelson allegedly pushed a TMZ photographer at an airport, he blamed his actions on mistaking the photographer for a zombie. “I wrapped a movie called Zombieland, in which I was constantly under assault by zombies, then flew to New York, still very much in character,” Harrelson said. “With my daughter at the airport I was startled by a paparazzo, who I quite understandably mistook for a zombie.”

8. AnnaLynne McCord’s poem to Vladimir Putin about how things would be different if she were his mother is still one of the strangest things a celebrity has ever done, IMO. In the poem, which she read aloud on X (then Twitter), she said, “I’m so sorry that I was not your mother. If I was your mother you would have been so loved. Held in the arms of joyous light. 9. We only know this quote secondhand, but it’s still one of my favorites. According to Julia Stiles, Prince invited the cast of The Bourne Ultimatum to one of his concerts. After the show, they were “summoned into a room to meet him.” Attempting to make small talk, Matt Damon asked Prince, “So you live in Minnesota? I hear you live in Minnesota.” Prince apparently replied, “I live inside my own heart, Matt Damon.”

10. Another great alleged Prince quote comes from TRL video jockey Dave Holmes, who revealed they were supposed to do an episode on Prince, but he showed up 50 minutes late. Holmes said that the host, Carson Daly, said to Prince, “We were expecting you a little earlier, so there’s a lot we have to get through. We don’t have a lot of time.” Apparently, Prince replied, “I don’t use time.” Holmes said that Carson asked, “So what do you use?” and “Prince paused for a moment and then said, ‘Truth.'”

36. Sean Penn randomly got pretty worked up about 9/11 in an interview with Variety, saying that if he were president at the time, “I’d have let White House counsel know that they are on vacation. I’m not consulting with them. If I have to go to prison, I’ll go, but I’m going to kill them. I’m killing everyone that did this,” he said. Because apparently Penn is some sort of Liam Neeson–in–Taken–style vigilante.

37. Maybe not a celebrity in the traditional sense, but speaking of 9/11, George W. Bush has two quotes that I genuinely quote to my friends and family members all the time. The first? When he was asked on a golf course about Al-Qaeda, and replied, “I call upon all nations to do everything they can to stop these terrorist killers. After lighting the candles, a reporter asked Bush about a videotape of Osama bin Laden (this was just a few months after 9/11).
